How long is the free trial?
Every paid plan includes a 7-day free trial. No credit card required to start. You can explore all features before committing.
Do I need a Stripe account?
Yes. MerchantLayer uses Stripe Connect to process payments on your behalf. You'll connect your Stripe account during onboarding — it takes about 2 minutes.
Can I use multiple products together?
Absolutely. FeeLayer, PayLayer, and FinanceLayer work independently or together. Choose the plan that includes the products you need.
Is surcharging legal in my state?
Surcharging rules vary by state. FeeLayer includes region-aware rules as a starting point, but we recommend reviewing our surcharge laws guide and consulting legal counsel for your specific situation.
How do ACH payments work for my customers?
You create a payment and we email your customer a branded payment link. They click it, enter their bank details through Stripe's secure checkout, and the ACH transfer initiates. Settlement typically takes 3-5 business days.
What happens if a customer misses an installment?
FinanceLayer tracks all payment due dates and shows you which plans are past due. You can manage follow-ups, record manual payments, or cancel plans as needed.
Can I customize the emails sent to customers?
Payment emails use your business name, brand colors, and contact information from your account settings. This ensures a professional, on-brand experience for your customers.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can manage your subscription anytime from the Billing section of your dashboard. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period.
